BREAKING:  PURDUE WINS!  ADVANCES TO HENLEY FINALS

Henley-on-Thames, England — The dream is alive.  Following a thrilling victory over University College Dublin in the semifinals of the G.P. Jeffries Cup at the Women’s Henley Regatta this afternoon, the Purdue University women’s varsity eight is now heading to the finals.  In the closest race of the day thus far, the Boilermakers edged Dublin by a quarter of a length to advance.  Purdue will return to the River Thames at 4:50 pm (GMT) to face ASR Nereus (Holland) in the head-to-head championship.  Nereus reached the final with a win over Thames Rowing Club in 5 minutes, 2 seconds.  Purdue won with a time of 5:04.
