In a driving rain and a strong headwind, the Purdue University women's varsity eight beat Tyne Rowing Club in its opening race at the Henley Women's Regatta on the River Thames this afternoon. In a commanding performance, the Boilermakers jumped out to an early advantage, led throughout and won by open water.
